The Conversation
It starts with a chat. We talk through your vision, the subject, and find the right reference photograph together. The better the photo, the more life Will can capture in the final piece.
The Work
Using professional-grade pastels and oils on archival paper and canvas, Will builds the piece layer by patient layer. Timescales vary by complexity — a clear estimate is given upfront.
Your Approval
As the work nears completion, high-resolution photographs are shared for your review. Will refines until you are completely happy.
Delivery
The finished piece is carefully packaged and sent via fully tracked and insured delivery anywhere in the UK.
About Will
I'm Will Poulton, a painter based in Alveston, near Thornbury in South Gloucestershire. I've been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember — it's simply how I make sense of the world around me.
My work spans portraiture, landscapes, and cityscapes, in soft pastels, oils, and charcoal. There's something about pastels I keep coming back to — the way you can physically push pigment into paper, coaxing out texture and tone with your hands, feels closer to the subject than any other medium I've used.
Whether it's a face, a hillside, or a busy city street at night, I want the painting to hold something true — a moment, a feeling, a quality of light that a photograph alone can't quite catch. That's what keeps me at the easel.
